Rep. McNerney Virtually Tours Nautilus Data Center for Startup Day
Stockton, CA – Reinforcing his commitment to entrepreneurs and small business owners in California’s 9th Congressional District, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) continued his tradition of celebrating Congressional Startup Day by meeting with a local startup.
“Right now, it’s more important than ever that we give voice to entrepreneurs and business owners so that we as policymakers can best address the unique challenges they’re facing,” said Congressman McNerney.
Nautilus Data Technologies – a Pleasanton-based data company whose new floating data center is housed in the Port of Stockton – took the Congressman on a virtual tour of the facility, which utilizes energy efficient water-cooling technologies. Using environmentally sustainable technology that operates with 80% more energy efficiency and at 30% lower operating costs than traditional land-based data centers, Nautilus is preparing to begin operations in the Port.
“Our region is ripe with untapped talent and opportunity, and I’m pleased that Nautilus recognized that potential and chose Stockton for its new data center,” Congressman McNerney continued. “Not only is Nautilus’ green digital infrastructure an example of the innovation taking place right here in Stockton, but this infrastructure will play a critical role in drawing more innovation and investment to our community and region.”
The purpose of Congressional Startup Day is to bring together founders and policymakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship, and to promote the importance of startups across congressional districts. Congressman McNerney has participated in the event for the past four years and served as the co-chair of this event in 2018.
