Rep. McNerney Announces the 2020 Congressional App Challenge
Stockton, CA – Today, Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09) announced that his office is accepting submissions for the 2020 Congressional App Challenge for students in the 9th Congressional District. In partnership with the Internet Education Foundation, Members of Congress host Congressional App Challenges in their districts as part of a nationwide program created to foster an appreciation for computer science, teach students how to code, and encourage students to learn valuable STEM-based skills.
“The Congressional App Challenge is a great way for students in California’s 9th Congressional District to showcase their talents,” said Congressman McNerney. “This contest underscores the value of STEM education and highlights the growing career opportunities in STEM fields. I’m proud to host this competition and to encourage students who have a passion and enthusiasm for math and science to pursue these interests.”
A panel of judges will select the winning entries, and the winning app from the 9th Congressional District will be featured on the Congressman McNerney’s website, the House.gov website, and the CongressionalAppChallenge.us website. Congressional App Challenge winners may also be eligible to have their app featured on a display in the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.
The deadline for submissions is October 19th. For rules and guidelines, additional information, or to register for the Congressional App Challenge, students should visit www.congressionalappchallenge.us.
