STOCKTON, Calif. (KCRA) —The California Army National Guard in Stockton now has the most advanced multi-mission helicopters.

On Monday, the National Guard unveiled the new CH47F at the Stockton Army Aviation Facility.

“The longest-running production helicopter in the world is the CH47 Chinook," Major John Allen said.

The Chinooks are replacing the CH47D built in the 1960s and '70s.

"It's a real honor for Stockton, California," said Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton. "It brings military capability not only for military missions but for safety missions and for fire suppression and rescue."

Stockton has the only full Chinook base in the entire state -- and the new Chinooks bring more technology, more precision and more safety.

“We are proud to start flying for the citizens of California," Capt. Benjamin Bowman said Monday.
