About California’s 9th Congressional District
California’s 9th Congressional District includes parts of San Joaquin, Contra Costa, and Sacramento Counties. It spans from the rivers of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to the urban center of Stockton. The 9th District offers something for each of its residents and visitors to enjoy, boasting historic museums, bustling urban shopping centers, premier California wineries, numerous agricultural products, and recreational activities including boating, camping, and hiking.
The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is formed at the western edge of the valley where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers converge. The rivers are the lifeblood of many businesses, farmers and families in California’s 9th District as well as a main water supply for the state. Almost two-thirds of all Californians receive water from the Delta. The system remains an indispensable part of the state’s agricultural system, generating some of the state’s best specialty crops and contributing greatly to California’s statewide economy.
Outside of its ports, cities, and farmlands, California’s 9th district is comprised of several proud small town communities. With its recreational areas, historic tourist areas, and fertile agricultural land, our district is a microcosm of the Golden State.
